Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville’s hold on military nominations is “putting our national security at risk,” according to the U.S. Secretaries of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, and it has received bipartisan condemnation. But an examination of political donations shows that the Senator’s actions appear to be of little concern for many companies that are being paid to protect America’s national security.
Bay to Breakers has parted ways with Capstone Events, the North Carolina race organizer whose founder and top executive is an active backer of right-wing politics. The iconic San Francisco road race made the move as a result of KnowTheCEO’s report last year that exposed Capstone Chairman John Kane’s contributions to Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz and other extremist, anti-LGBTQ politicians.

Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz. Despite this political activity, Black Girls RUN! is partnered with Capstone for Race 13.1 in Charlotte and the company gets financial backing from Zappos, a title sponsor of two events including the upcoming Hamptons Marathon, along with Fleet Feet, Michelob Ultra, United Airlines, Publix and others.
The top executive of a Shake Shack meat supplier is an active financial backer of former president Donald Trump. FEC records show that Tom Richards, President of Richards Grassfed Beef, has given thousands of dollars to Trump’s campaign and to the Winred PAC, which supports GOP congressional candidates.

On June 9th, CEOs for Gun Safety issued a letter calling for Congress to pass common sense gun laws. More than 220 companies signed the letter, which was similar to one the group issued in 2019.
