CNBC: Ben & Jerry’s to cut ties with law firm following KnowTheCEO report
After KnowTheCEO exposed Ben & Jerry’s work with the gun industry law firm of Shook, Hardy & Bacon, the company announced it will no longer work with the firm. The spotlight we put on this work also led Shook Hardy to completely remove from their website all references to their gun work.
The news was reported today by CNBC, which used KnowTheCEO research to question Ben & Jerry’s about their relationship with the law firm. CNBC reporter Brian Schwartz interviewed Christopher Miller, the head of global activism at the ice cream company, and reported: “Miller also said the ice cream maker plans to cut ties with vendors who have worked with the firearms industry. ‘We’ll make sure moving forward we’re not working with enablers of the industry,’ Miller said after being asked about one of its outside law firms, Shook, Hardy & Bacon, that has a large tobacco, alcohol and firearms practice. ‘I think we certainly will be more thoughtful on the kind of service providers that we work with going forward.’”
