Elon Musk’s political duplicity
Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk's has suggested that he is suddenly going from supporting Democrats to supporting Republicans - a claim that is completely absurd based on his history of political activity. For two decades he has been actively financing GOP candidates, including giving nearly $200,000 to the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC).
Musk's GOP political contributions include:
$191,000 to the NRCC from 2007 to 2017
$80,000 to U.S. Rep. Kevin McCarthy from 2014 to 2017
$16,000 to U.S. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher from 2003 to 2014
$15,000 to U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio from 2011 to 2014
$14,000 to Winred PAC in 2020
Others: John Hoeven (’10), Scott Brown (’11), Lindsey Graham (’13), and more.
On May 20, 2022, Musk claimed that a Hillary Clinton tweet about Trump’s Russia ties was a hoax and he complained about having giving her money. But records show that Musk has bankrolled “Russia’s favorite congressman,” who pushed false information about election interference after meeting with Russian operatives.
Musk gave more than $16,000 to former U.S. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, who claims Russia didn’t interfere in US elections. At the same time that Russia was interfering with our elections, Rohrabacher:
Met with Putin confidant and oligarch V. Yakunin
Met with Kremlin lawyer N. Veselnitskaya
Met with Russian agent M. Butina
Took anti-Hillary docs from his Russia contacts
